Visionary Leader
Asad is a leader, counsellor and advocate who founded Al-Hurraya to remove cultural and structural barriers to recovery and wellbeing for Black, Asian, Refugee and new/emerging communities. His work blends lived experience, professional counselling practice and partnership-driven prevention.

Asad Fazil, the chief executive officer of Al-Hurraya, has been honoured for his services to education.
Identifying a need for a culturally specific organisation, Al-Hurraya has gone from strength to strength having initially been formed in 2014 as a substance misuse service.
